TASK
The introduction of JavaScript and jQuery gives students the requisite skills to develop an informative and interactive piece about a topic of their choosing. Using the medium of the web, students will design and develop an informative non-fiction article about a historical/current event, cultural phenomenon, technology, art/science topic, or deep-dive “explainer” about a topic of their choosing. Feel free to approach your tutor to discuss your ideas, we will display some examples of previous student work during the semester.
The techniques taught in this unit should be not considered a checklist of requirements for your projects: you don’t have to use an accordion, you don’t have to sync events to the playback of audio media, your project doesn’t have to be responsive. Use what is necessary and appropriate for your project, but challenge yourself - be daring! This project is an opportunity for you to develop and utilise your professional
judgment. Web design is not (solely) about about meeting technical proficiencies, but meaningful and purposeful communication.
Your interactive article will be comprised of 1000-1200 words appropriately distributed across five sections or pages (it is entirely up to you whether to have multiple sections on one page, but it is absolutely acceptable, and maybe preferable, to split your content across multiple pages).
This content should be original, and in the event where any content includes (or is curated from) other sources, it is prominently attributed much like you would acknowledge the work of others in an academic essay. (An attribution online could mean linking to the source. For example, the following code could be used to add a source below an image:
